Anoxia was a total depletion in the level of oxygen, an extreme form of Hypoxia ("Low oxygen").
Role in outer space[]
Thankfully, only a few astronauts died from anoxia which usually was exposure to the vacuum of outer space. If someone was exposed to the vacuum of outer space, their lungs froze and collapsed and their blood boiled due to severe embolisms.
